Wow, did this movie suck. I had really been looking forward to
seeing it, too. Kevin Spacey is remarkable as always and I've liked
him in everything I've seen him in so far. Helen Hunt, while not a
remarkable actress, is good in this movie, and (even though she's
playing an older character and an alcoholic) she's still pretty hot.
Haley Joel Osment is a great actor, and to quote one reviewer of this
film, his effort here proves his work in The Sixth Sense was no
fluke.
So what was bad? Mostly, I hated the writing. The plot was sometimes
corny or contrived. More than one conflict between characters is
resolved after Osment pouts. The ending is a shamelessly tacked-on
piece of garbage that actually had me angry. A movie shouldn't make
you angry, right? That's bad.
2 stars (out of 5).
And I would have given it 3 if it wasn't for that ending. Man! Ok, I'm over it.
